Puyuallup Fair

I had started this blog months ago (since it is from the September Fair and all...), but had to exit really fast from it at work so I didn't think it saved (and I never had the time to re-do it). But I was just fiddling around this site and found it! Pretty cool that it saved it! Saves me another hour or so of typing and posting pics!! I did make one boo-boo when I was trying to fix it up; I deleted the big slide pic. Sorry. Will have to re-post it another day since the pic is on my work computer.

I took a Personal Day from work on Thursday so we could go to the fair (Kati, I totally lied to you. I was at Pike Place on Friday, not Thursday....all my days run together, it's hard to keep track..)

The first ride we went on was the Train. Oh man. Lucas was so excited...even though you can't really tell in the photos.

Staring at some rides. I didn't get any great pics because I was sitting behind them. It dawned on me after we got all situated that I needed to have been in the front in order to get good pics. Oh well, live and learn.

Now, if you've met my child you know he's a little...cautious. So I was very surprised he wanted to go on rides himself..and actually stayed on them! He was so eager to get into that car. A little girl behind him in line tried to cut and he let her have it. There will be no cutting in front of this kid, missy.

Again, he's having more fun than you can tell from the pictures! He's just a very serious-faced boy sometimes :)

Action shot...

Next was the boat ride. I think it's cool that they still have the same rides that they had when I was little. I'll have to find one of John and I on the boat ride and show it to Lucas. See what he says...or if he even recognizes it. Who knows.

Not quite sure what to think..

Still thinking if he wants to get out or not..

"Ok, I'm going to be alright...and I think I like it!"

He thought the teepee was pretty cool. Anything that's like a tunnel is alright in his book.

Next was the big slide (this is the one I accidentally deleted!! oopsies..). He for some reason didn't want any help. Well, he got up to were that girl in the white is off to the right of the pic before he started freaking out. Gus to the rescue. He actually went farther than I thought it would, but still the screaming that came out of him...

They had this cool metal...thing..there that the kids took little sticks and played "music" on it. Pretty entertaining.
Lucas really wanted to go on the motorcycle ride...and maybe would have done it if he would have gotten a bike that wasn't in the air higher than everyone else. Who knows.

He looks cool in this pic, but about 1.3 seconds later, he was screaming his little head off. That's my big boy!! :)
There's more Fair pics, but this is way long enough for now.

Lucas' work of art

Luc's been all about painting lately, since Grandma In Tacoma (yes, that's her name haha...Janeen is Grandma at the Ocean/Beach) and Gus has been painting their house. Grandma got him some kiddie paints, she already had the eisle, and just let him go to work. I hear he loves painting.

Here's a close up of the art. I guess he was asking Grandma what colors she likes, and then would add it to the picture. Gus asked him who the painting is for, and apparently it isn't for Gus, Grandma, or me. Some lucky person will get to have this on their fridge, and I'll let you know when Luc informs us! :)

John Deere-ing it

Grandma Janeen and Grandpa Willy got Luc a little John Deere tractor last year that he can drive. He's finally gotten a hang of steering it too...hardly runs into the bushes or cars anymore! :)
Lucas actually let his cousin Kai (with Daddy Travis) use his tractor. But believe me, there were plenty of fights over that thing!
Kai was hauling around Lucas in the trailer part. It was pretty cute. Kai kept trying to go over the edge though, into the sticker bushes....he hasn't quite mastered his steering yet... haha

Kai was supposed to be delivering Luc to me because Luc had stinky pants, but it was more fun to drive him around. They're so cute together.

Kite Festival, Day 4

This was the Kid Day at the Kite Festival. The kiddies fly their kites with Grandparents and get pins, and also they have this Teddy Bear drop where they have teddy bears parachute and 15 lucky kids get to catch the bears and keep them...Kai nor Luc got their names called.

It was so nice to actually have a nice day. Luc loved the big kites, like the black cat behind us.

Luc's Cars kite flying with the other kites...that kite only flew for about 5 minutes, and then we couldn't get it back up. I'm thinking the tail was too long...it was like 10 feet!

Luc and Grandma Janeen flying (or trying to) some kites.

The only kite we could really get to fly well was one he made at the Kite Museum...and when I said Luc made it, I mean Gus..and when I say Gus, I mean I helped too... :)

He was SO proud of himself for flying the kite!! I was pretty surprised he liked it so well considering it's something that you pretty much just stand around and do, and since that kid is always moving.

I love how Luc "sits". If there's a wall or something to lean against, he does this. I don't know where he picked up this from, since we don't do it, but he sure does like it. He also does this cute little squat thing instead of sitting on the floor (I'll find a pic of him doing that and post it).
They had some pretty cute kites. I liked the legs.
It's an Obama kite. Couldn't go down to the Kite Festival without running into this stuff. I was surprised they didn't have any McCain kites flying! haha

Great Grandpa's Bday Supper

We went to Chinese for Great Grandpa Zubal's 82nd birthday supper. The restuarant was packed. It was one of the "nice" days of the week...like 20 inches of rain fell! :)

Janeen and Willy, with G. Grandpa and G. Grandma in the background.

It looks like Luc is in some serious trouble, but I think Gus was just asking him what he wanted for supper. One serious discussion...!

So we apparently didn't actually get a good pic of the birthday boy! haha Of the faces you can actually see, it's Kai, Kara, Travis and Carol (Kara's mom).

Kite Festival, Day 1

I finally have a little extra bit of free time to finally post the vacation pics from 2ish weeks ago (seems like an eternity now). I still don't have a lot of the Kite Festival pics as they were taken with Janeen's camera, but I'll get them sometime..

Lucas loved these photo-op things. Every day we went down to the festival, he had to do these, twice. I don't know why I only have one copy (I should have at least 9) since we all had to take turns with him...they must be on Janeen's camera too.

This was taken on Wednesday, the 3rd day of the Kite Festival (first day we ventured down there). Usually there should be about a hundred kites in the air, not just like 10. The weather sucked. Out of the 7 days the festival was going on, only 2 were sunny. This was taken about 10 minutes before the monsoon hit. We (Janeen, Lucas and I) were walking on the mile long boardwalk, and were halfway down when it hit. Thankfully Luc was wearing a new waterproof jacket (and it actually worked!!!) and Janeen packed us some ponchos. We finished walking the boardwalk, but still had to walk back to the car in the rain.

Lucas was loving it (the little weirdo likes to catch the raindrops on his tongue like snowflakes...) until I forced him to wear my poncho (I was worried his raincoat wasn't working enough...and I'm such a downer {I can hear you agreeing with me, Kyle!}). You would think that child thought I was killing him. I also felt like ripping off both the poncho and raincoat and make him walk like that, but my maturity level returned and just ignored the screaming and kicking...
And yes, I'm mean enough to take a picture of my kid crying because he was just so pathetic.

Luc's Work Days..part 2

I forgot to post the pics of the aftermath of his visit. He had a lot of fun with my clips, paper clips, stampers, highlighters (only highlighted one important paper, other than that he stayed on the paper mat under my keyboard), and whatever else that wasn't glued down :)

I guess I didn't take a picture of the drawer that's open off to the right in the pic above. I have this drawer organizer and he filled every little compartment in it with paperclips. It was fun to go threw yesterday and re-organize all the big and little paperclips from each other.

Luc's Work Days

I took Lucas to work with me on Friday, August 29th. Melanie (Boss) and I were having our own Bring Your Kid To Work day; she brought her daughter, Maya, who's 10. Luc and Maya have a lot of fun together, so it makes it really easy to bring him with me.

I tried to take a couple pics to post, but he wasn't cooperating very well. Here's what I have....

This would have been somewhat cute if he wasn't such a turd! :)

Same thing for this one....

That was the closest I could get haha. We're also wearing our Seahawk jerseries (AND my super cool Seahawk earrings!). We had to be all dressed up for the game that night!

(stay tuned for pics from the game...)
